Making Hay( wood) when the sun shines....

Disgraceful!! Call that a security lapse?? I call it collusion. How could American Kenneth Haywood waltz out of the country so easily, even though there was a look out notice against his name? He managed to get out of India from New Delhi's International Airport, even while he was being questioned for his involvement in the Ahemedabad blasts. His computers may have have been left behind with the ATS, but he has flown the coop along with his family members. It goes to show just how lax our systems are - suspects, terrorists, criminals and drug dealers are free to come and go at will, because we are not efficient \ serious \ honest enough. Our cops manage to bungle nearly every major case. Haywood has claimed a top cop asked him for a bribe to 'fix' his papers. I would believe it. And a bribe must have been paid for him to slip away so effortlessly. I am equally certain a deal was struck at the highest levels with American agencies and our diplomats agreeing to a certain modus operandi. Haywood's innocence or complicity in such a serious and sensitive case, is not the issue. That he cocked a snook at Indian laws and fled,is far more worrying. This will effectively put an end to the terror trail. Haywood will be forgotten by the media. Till another set of blasts rips our country apart.I agree all Muslims are not terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslims. That's the uncomfortable truth.
What is happening in Jammu & Kashmir ought to serve as a wake up call - will it?Corrupt politicians are playing a dangerous game, playing into the hands of traitors and separatists. If we don't act now, one more battlefield will witness a bloodbath.
Haywood was no victim.By letting him escape, we have compromised our national security .Again. Will those responsible be made accountable? Not a chance...

yes. what the heck... how did he sneak away... and how did reporters catch him in the airport and the cops didnt. It is so easy to get caught by the media and so difficult to get caught by cops. Jai ho India TV. Jai Ho Paparazzi

yes, "response to the stimuli" attitude is so damn frustrating. blast... when did that happen. ohh 2 weeks back, thats an old story. now we are safe. this is the attitude of indians.

And there will be ball talks about teh resilience, Sometimes i wonder if we need blasts and trauma to bind us together and to celebrate the resilience. It seems life would be so run of teh mill if there was no terror,. Are we getting used to terror? has it become as comman as theft and domestic violence?

"Though all Muslims are not Terrrists, Most terrorists are Muslims "
Baap re... De, aisa controvertial statements math karo na... I understand you completely. But there are so so many religious fanatics. I mean... people are not sensible enough to understand that you have nothing against muslims. you know Some people are wise. Some Otherwise.

I suggest we withhold tagging terrorism to religions. It's just not good. And De, you should know better.

About Haywood, I am clueless.

It's all good... Even terrorists fight in the name of their religion...

Kris, why decouple terrorism from religion?

They are intrinsically linked in present day India. They provide succor to each other in the minds of impressional people who would do harm.

Terrorism in India today DOES feed off religion and viceversa. Economic domination may be a final and complex aim of most terrorists, but lets not forget that for the most part terrorism finds its roots in religios indoctrination at first.

After all to create a commited terrorist you need effective propoganda. How else will you ask people to believe in the cause they represent. Religion at its most base level is the purest and best tested form of propoganda.

Muslims and Hindus alike are equally suseptable. Only difference is that in Islam the propoganda is more absolute. The relion and Ummah is more monolithic and so propoganda is easier to disseminate. Hindus are not a monolithic society so its harder to brainwash so many subgroups.

To talk about religion as only being connected to peace is innacurate. It is about more complex than that.

About Haywood leaving, I am sure there are higher channels talking to each other in both governments who arranged for his departure. I refuse to believe that security is so lax, so consistantly, only due to incompetance. That is too hard to beleive. Officials may be corrupt and easier to put pressure on, but the whole system of procedures cannot be completely wrong every everytime and everyplace. It is more than human error and shoddy procedures at work here.

guys, forgive me for not responding individually. But I have too much on my plate. Just saw a preview of a really disturbing movie called Mukhbir (Police Informer ). You can guess the content. Shot documentary-style, it left me reeling. It could be happening right now while I key in these words! Scarey.

I agree with Another Kiran From NYC: Hindus are polytheists. So it's harder to brainwash their mind to fight for their religion. Hinduism is the third most widely followed religion in the world. Second comes Islam where all the fight arises. Islamic fundamentalists want to spread Islam among greater masses. Plus Islamic extremist groups are fighting for their vengeance in the different geographies, for instance in India they fighting for the liberation of Kashmir and also to revoke against the majority Hindus in this country. They seem insecure and isolated in this so-called secularist country.
Whatever it may be, how much ever debates are blogs we would write, WE CAN NOT SIMPLY DENY THE FACT THAT TERRORISM AND ISLAM ARE INTER-RELATED.
I am surely quite ignorant about the even deeper issues of the fundamentalist islamic groups. I might not be aware of much stories and politics between Hindu-Muslim rivalry as much as Another Kiran From NYC would be knowing about... But what I say is what I feel and what I've observed over the years.

You have made a very controversial statement - "All Muslims are not terrorists but most Muslims are terrorists"

Btw how is it that you respond individually to the other's comments but not to mine. Any bias I wonder?

Kris Bass said...

I correct myself: I meant don't tag terrorism to just Muslim. If you want to allege religions, add Hinduism as well.

Or better, don't.

This other post in one of my favorite blogs is a good read.

divided opinions is what i can see and cant decide who's right. i buy both the arguments. however, heart in heart, the fact remains that globally, not just in india, most terrorists happen to be muslims.
however that doesnt mean that we dont wish our muslim friends a happy eid. i've been through a situation where a muslim neighbour walked up to me and said 'Humne toh aapko Holi mein, Dassera mein aur Diwali mein aapko hamesha wish kiya hain. Aaj Eid hain, aap bhool gaye kya?' I had not forgotted, just that I didnt think it was important for me to wish him. Dont know if I am making sense, but then we seem uncomfortable with the average muslim in this country. Yet, we idolise the Khans of Bollywood. Its a strange mindf**k situation.

And by adding Hinduism, you mean to connect links with the Sangh Parivar? ... Don't do that!
