goa.... goa..... goa.....gone

I shall be in Goa to open my arms to 2009. Open my heart, as well. It will be a simple diner a deux with my husband, at our all time favourite restaurant near Baga Beach - Fiesta, run by that adorable couple , Manek and Yellow - surely, they rate as the hottest chef-owner couple in Goa, if not Asia.... if not the world!!! Okay. I am getting carried away. This is just to say I love them both, love their impeccable style, delicious cuisine.... and the sand between my toes as we dine al fresco... and recall many magical nights at their wondweerful restaurant. What better way to bring in a brand new year, with hope and a prayer for a more peaceful tomorrow, and some solace for the souls we lost in Mumbai. I shall drink pink champagne to a new dawn.... and wish the world lots of shanti. As i do all of you, my darling blogdosts. Till then.... adieu. See you next year.... same spot. Stay well, my friends.... life is too short.... but brutally beautiful too!

Ah Goa! Have an awesome time. Bring in the New Year well!

I was going to say for your last post... throw away the pink pills and see Slumdog Millionaire instead. If that will not jumpstart that little ray of hope that lies amidst the brutality of our workaday life... nothing else will.

My review is on my blog.

Everyone, please go read it. And then see the film. This one deserves an oscar nomination in many categories. An Indian Film made by someone not Indian. But its heart beats with mine. Dhak Dhak karta hai. Same rhythmn.

I had been to Goa for Christmas and am back in Pune. The charm is intact, but the usual gaiety and bonhomie that is so much genetic to Goa, is surely missing. The same goes with the number of tourists. Even they seem to have given Goa a miss. In a big way. The Indian tourist scene wasn't any good either. But what hurt me the most was the sight of RAF and CRPF jawans, occupying vantage positions at beaches behind sand bunkers, armed with Snipers and binoculars, keeping vigil. Add to that a steady flow of police patrol vans running up and down the shoreline, and it almost gave me a feeling that the freedom and simple pleasures of a goan holiday would probably never be the same again. Because it surely pains to dance away to glory when you notice grim-faced security guys protecting you. No complaints. Only that, Goa probably is starting to lose its innocence. Otherwise, Brittos was at its usual best. And so was Martin's Corner. And Infantaria. And the numerous other small eating joints. Never been to Fiesta. Would go there in Feb for sure. Till then, let the squids, mussels, tiger prawns, Crabs, Lobsters, Xacutis, Vindaloos and Sorpotels keep you busy. With pink wine for company, if I may add. Would be great to read your post, post 31st. Have a great time.

Shobha, did you read Sonam's comment that you are nothing more or less than a porn writer ? :)) I was laughing the last 15 minutes figuring out how the spunky Sonam did figure out that you are nothing more or less and also having the courage to admit to it in the press :))

I am laughing imagining the whole thing , a kid calling you a porn writer .....LOL. she is right you know, even though you wont find many calling you a useless, ignorable porn writer cause they would rather lick up to you. You have power, yes ....but your criticism of everything "pedestrain" shows you have no respect for people who like what you think is pedestrain. I have not read a single book of yours cause I see that mostly it represents your trashy cliches but I have read your articles now and then and the only thing that stands out is : This bitch has no respect for anyone and look at her !! with a face like a horse and well..let me leave it at that. Shobhaa with the extra "a", who would blv you would do something so pedestrain as to change your name !! I dont like you Shobhaa, you are a phoney.

Hi Shobaa

Enjoy your pink champagne and the new year. I guess you earned it after trying to revive your non-existential career on the backs of broken mumbaikars and trying to gain some press for yourself by courting controversies by spouting nonsense about filmstars. Atleast they work for the jobs unlike lazy you. You should have some shame, I guess you are in the same league as the politicians - make hay while the public suffer. What have you done for your city?

Hi Shobhaa,

Sonam Kapoor in an interview has called you a "60 year old, porn writer" in response to your saying that she lacks sex-appeal. What is your reply to her lashing out at you?
I am quite peeved with Sonam, since being such a young girl , she does not have any respect for senior people. According to me, you were only playing a critic and you were not far away from the reality ;)

I have a few blogs that I subscribe to that I should really unsubscribe to. When an email about a new post comes in, I just let it sit there. And sit there. And sit there.. Until finally I just delete it. It’s because I feel like I can’t be bothered to read it, or I’m not excited about the new content. Why do I stay subscribed then? I have no idea. I’m just weird.
