Dubai Lit Fest

Guys, I have been in Dubai for the past few days. Much has changed since my last visit a few months ago.But much remains the same. The Emirates Lit Fest is wonderfully structured, and it is a pleasure to be be a part of something this well organised and glitch free. My own session last evening was delightful because of the moderator, Rosie Goldsmith, a BBC Lit Fest veteran.

Pictures, pictures and pictures...show us "you", show us Dubai, show us Lit Fest...please :)Not sure if you knew but very few days back Dubai hosted "Marathi Sahitya SammelaN". Looks like Dubai is getting totally literature friendly (I have to admit I never thought Dubai as literature savvy or friendly city. oh well, I had my stereotypes ON)...anyway, have fun and bring us some 'tadka' back.

Shobhaa, I have always been a fan of yours. So please taks some criticism from me. I saw you on a talk organised by Thelkha with K Jo, Sarika and Jaggi Vasudev on some channel. I dont remember which. Age has started to show on you and there is no way to fight it. Please start dressing your age and age gracefully. You had your day as a fashion icon and diva. Airbrushing is not possible in real life. I dont mean wear gunny bags and not colour your hair, I just mean dont try to dress like a 25 year old anymore. Please. I still remain your ardent fan.

Hi Shobhaa, I attended your session, it was quite interesing. Looking forward to attending the Panel discussion. Would have loved to post some pictures of the event but not able to. All the best Cheers!

Hi Shobhaa - attended both your sessions, interesting in different ways, and even caught you sneaking in and out of that rather unfortunate Amit Chaudhri solo session. Smart move. I was sitting across the aisle and snuck out almost immediately behind you.

Anyway...while the Rosie G. session was sort of interesting (am not a raver of the weary "woman's rights" and "India finding its true place in the world hierarchy" sort of thing - that's another debate), I think you brought heated passion and unraveled the PR-spin of the rather officious 'babudom' during the debate. Good on you. Having said that I do identify with Swarup's positivity, eagerness and quiet confidence. And I completely understood Dalrymple bafflement - what is Shobhaa talking about - Indian women are some of the most balsy women in the world!
