Where there is hope....

This is a remarkable story about a remarkable young person. I met Bharti at a 'sangeet'. It was my friend's daughter who was getting married the next day.... and there were lots of beautifully dressed young people letting their hair down on the dance floor. As the dj pumped it up, I noticed a lovely young girl in a wheelchair. Her gal pals were encouraging her to participate and she was doing just that! With a brave smile on her face, she was waving her arms around to join in and be a part of the celebrations. Initially, I thought she may have fractured a leg and would soon be back on her feet. Unfortunately, the story was vastly different. It is a story of gross negligence, neglect and sheer callousness on the part of the guilty individuals who robbed a young, talented woman of her legs.... her life.... her livelihood... and her love.
And to think this happened at a popular night club in a 5-star hotel in Juhu, which was owned and promoted by a celebrity DJ and his partner. Despite her best efforts, nothing has happened so far. Forget responsibility or any talk of compensation, she has yet to receive even an apology.
Read on.... and if you want to know the identity of the guilty, ask me. The magazine that ran the story didn't wish to identify the hotel or the well-connected DJ. Bharti herself is not a VIP's daughter.... so, basically nobody gives a damn.
Well, Blogdosts.... let's show her, we do!

Very much touched by Bharti's story wish she finds some financier for her Spa project. Hey Shobhaa you are an influential person you certainly can help her get one!

We would like to know the guilt's name...was it some celeb?

Her finance & his family are much appreciated. Generally in such situations people snap relationships.

Regards

its really shameful that such things happen & nothing is being done regarding that.

a silly prank or something ruined a girl's life

but we are with bharti n we do care

I completely empathize with Bharti because this can happen with anyone. How many more Jessica's/Ruchika's we need? Would we have to have a candle march everytime this happens with one among us to get the justice which is rightly deserved; and just not our basic right!

Do I really need to shout - Yes! We give a damn about such animals.

So many such inhuman incidents rule India -our Independent-democratic India. Yes, this is the democracy that is cropping up with hypocracy.
Shameful act.
We wish for Bharti from all our hearts.

A good story. But there are many more bharati(s) out there who are not as educated or financially independent as this girl is.
Women are far from being treated well in our country.

Also read the story about pancreatic cancer at the bottom of the page.

My mother is a cancer patient. We have been fighting the disease from 2002. Without any radiation and chemotherapy (the conventional forms of treatment) since 2008. My mom is alive and much better (healthwise than most other cancer patients who are on the so "called" conventional treatments). why dont journalists like you do some research on other treatments available to fight the disease and enlighten the public

Bharti is brave( whatever happened is very sad) you are right its a case of negligence has she filed any case against the hotel? She must not leave them and teach them a lesson so that they learn a lesson and others beware and avoid the same mistake.
Expose their names , they have not even bothered to apolozise that tells a lot about them.
I really pray she gets a financer and opens the spa i believe if u make use of your skills u feel happy who knows some miracle on the way what happened in the past was unexpected and sad , this year is for the unexpected i hope this time its in favour of Bharti and that unexpected changes her life positively forever nothing is impossible right Dost!

Why dont you write something in detail about Aruna? Aruna cannot speak but that does not mean that she cannot feel pain. Especially her gums and rotting teeth. Every one who have experienced tooth pain will say how terrible to bear that pain? It is not only tooth pain but also about other pains that a body experiences. Just because she is kept alive does not mean that she is not painless. She is not a monument to be preserved in that condition. And if I am in that position, no question about my willingness to live or die. And if my closest one suffers this fate, I know what my reaction would be.

I hope Bharti pursues legal action against the club to its logical (to me) end. Indian business culture needs a shakeup and needs to learn to be accountable.

More power to Bharti.

I wish bharati a fullfilled and contented life. She needs to sue the business owners. They need to take liability for it. In the US, she would have sucessfully sued the business owner for negligence and had all her medical bills taken care of. Its a shame how people get away with murder in India. I believe very often a wrong shameful acts in history (Like castesim, slavery, racism, child abuse, child labor etc) keeps on going because good people dont step up and speak up against whats wrong.
