  2. I guess he was taking a dig at Adolf Hitler. They never got along well. Remember the movie "The Great Dictator"? Hitler wanted to confiscate the reels, but Chaplin evaded him all times. Hats off to Chaplin for being comical yet daring. :)

  9. Wish if philistines' could appreciate that, but a beautiful quote from Chaplin.

Just saw you on a debate about IPL on Times now, sorry for being sarcastic but what a frenetic debate it was about the gentleman's game. Nobody seemed to talk about why cricket was our 'religion'. It's the media, television and corporate houses that have made it so. Earlier there was an advertisement after every over and nowadays it's for every four or six hit or a wicket taken. It is pathetic for what was already a snail paced game.
Look at football, the most popular sport in the world, there's still no video review. They don't want to slow/spoil the game even at the cost of a referee making a wrong decision and one goal it is, the difference between winning and losing.
During ninety minutes of play there's advertising only in half time and whereas in Cricket it all the time whether it's one or five days of play. It's high time people wake up, ask for other sports to be recognised as well. Give our athletes a fraction of resources and support the cricketers get and see what glory they can bring us. China began participation in Olympics much later than us, yet top the medal tally. I feel ashamed when a nation of one billion people fails to grab a single gold at the olympics. All eyes in the world are set on Olympics, not many know of cricket and that is the stage to showcase our talent to the World.

  10. And one needs power without accountability when one wants to systematically destroy a nation and what is even worse, the imbecilities who infest that country's public life and other institutions cannot see through the game!
