Women @ Work....

Still time! Go for's a good initiative and worth supporting.
I am pretty excited about the WIFT (Women in Films and Television) project and awards. I'll be there to present an award, because I believe it is imperative to acknowledge the contribution of women in both these powerful platforms. Especially since we are celebrating 100 years of Cinema.

I would not know as to who would you be giving the award.

Perhaps, the decisions are taken by people in the know of several things.

An Oscar statuette is highly coveted.

I will quote the following from my blog about Islam in the context of AR Rahman winning two Oscars.

Against all odds, Rahman, Pookkutty and Gulzar won two, one and one Oscars respectively.

After receiving the award for his song “Jai Ho” for the movie Slumdog Millionaire, from the podium, Rahman exhorted the world to “turn to peace and eschew war.”

So we should! Honouring our wonderful and long suffering womenfolk is as always a very welcome initiative! Though, if any of those two creatures Barkha or Sagarika were to receive their fixed award, I will blow up and will head straight for Neptune to cool down. With all the otherwise sophisticated and endearing persona embedded in your highness, I must confess even at the risk of sounding crude and uncouth, that the very sight of any of these two things and every colourful expletive, in Punjabi, in Bon Gali, in English, in Gujarati and with that little boy Rajdeep added in, in Marathi too starts flying around. With my lovely family around, albeit, in mute mode! Just can't stand the very sight of any of those unbearable panjandrums!

I love that you are a voice for women and more importantly a voice for Indian women. Don't ever stop writing about our problems. We need a strong voice, like yours, to speak up. For all of us.
