My entire body shivers on reading the story... Cant even imagine how much pain she would have endured... A braveheart indeed...

What change is going to happen in 2013? All of us would have forgotten this incident... This would be just one among the many rape incidents that happens daily...

RIP Brave heart. It is a sad end to 2012. I will not celebrate New Year Eve. My wish for 2013 is that the women are respected and no woman is ever raped or sexually abused.

By her death at Mt-E Hospital in Singapore, the poor Delhi-rape victim has sorely disappointed:
1. First, the media and the paparazzi, who have till now eagerly been awaiting her recovery, to print her story and mint millions (How deliberate was the media in insisting on the word 'gang-rape'.) ; and
2. Secondly, the pseudo protesters, who can't hog the media limelight anymore, certainly not at her expense. (While ardently praying for recurrence of such an event in the nearest future in order to hog the media glare again, they may demand erection of her statue at the scene of crime to perpetuate her memory, in the interim!).

Her death has, of course, brought the much-needed relief to the government and the police.

See how fashionable it has become to protest for any cause or mourn the death of anyone in India, thanks to the copy-pasting of the Western culture- Have we seen candle-light marches and laying of wreaths at death-sites, under full media glare before?

Lead kindly, Light. Amen.

Saturday, December 29, 2012- R.I.P. Amanat. This is for you.

For too long the women of India have come to accept sexual predators and offenders as a nuisance that we put up with on a regular basis. Holding out our elbows in crowded places to ward off unwanted attention, handbag ready to strike the next predator; we go about our lives bracing ourselves for the next "sicko" who will cross our path. Racing from the station platform to the ladies compartment, we learn to develop a stance and walk a certain way to avoid being groped. Getting into a rickshaw or taxi we hope it doesn't come with a driver who spends more time peeking in his rearview mirror than looking out for the traffic in front of him. Walking down a street, we cross over to the other side when we anticipate a lewd remark coming our way. And just like that, a life of trepidation ensues.

This is the India we women inhabit, Prime Minister. And that’s speaking only for the ones who make it into this world.

We picked you to lead us, sir. The sense of violation we feel every single time we are groped, inappropriately touched or the subject of a lewd remark should be mirrored in the sense of shame you should be feeling over the state of the country you preside over. A country where women are objectified, not just in item numbers on the screen but on the streets too. But we are not “items”, Sir. We don’t want to be told that we shouldn’t dress a certain way or shouldn’t travel alone, lest we “invite” unwanted attention. We don’t want to hear that we should avoid confrontation with these offenders, lest it incites retaliation from them. We don’t want to be turned away by policemen urging us not to bring “shame” to our families when we demand justice. We don’t want you to look away, Sir.

We ask you: Where is the sexual assault unit in every police station and court where we can bring the perpetrators of these crimes to swift justice? Where is the training for police officers to ensure that they treat every case with the respect and dignity it deserves? Where is the case tracking system that ensures that assault cases are resolved in a specific period of time?

Justice delayed is justice denied, Sir. You know what you must do, don’t hesitate.

Signed,

I Am Not An Item.

Public memory is always short, and it shall continue to be so. While the new-generation demonstrators and protesters raised such a hue and cry over the recent rape incident and held the government to ransom for two weeks , who remembers two other Delhi victims who had suffered similar fate, in 1978 – the teen-aged Chopra children, Sanjay and Geeta who were sexually abused and brutally murdered? That crime was much more cruel, gruesome, and heart-rending than the recent one committed again in Delhi. The notorious culprits Billa and Ranga were then promptly tried and executed in 1982.

The Super Star of southern Indian cinema, Rajni Kanth, played the lead roles in two movies - mind you, two, not one - with the titles Billa and Ranga. Subsequently, Billa –II was made as a sequel to Billa, starring Ajith Kumar, another southern mini-Super Star. Were these films not intended to glorify the villains? How did the Censor Board clear it at all in the first place? Were not Sanjay and Geeta children of Mother India? Then, what about such film titles as General Dyer or Nathuram Godse? Will the producers, the directors and the actors of these movies at least now repent their thoughtless, insensitive, past actions and seek public pardon, as homage to the recent Delhi victim?

If not, Bollywood and Kollywood may once again be encouraged to produce more such movies based on the recent Delhi incident, with titles of the rapist-murderers.

I was horrified when my 21 sister confided in me that a well-known, Dronacharya award winning chess coach had touched her private parts during a coaching class, when she was just 12.
Since this chess coach was renowned as a talented chess player and considered to be a 'trustable' figure within the Indian chess community, many naive parents willingly pay this guru to tutor their kids.
Parents would drop kids in his house and come pick them up after the chess class. On the particular day that this incident happened, my father dropped my sister at the coach's house. The chess coach took the opportunity to molest my sister.
We are a family of three. Our father passed away last year due to a sudden heart attack. We are afraid to report this incident to concerned authorities as we fear that this coach might threaten us with legal action for ruining his reputation. My mother, as horrified as she was, begged me not to do anything and 'just shut my mouth'. The only reason I am sharing this message is to try to protect the innocent defenseless girl, who might be his next victim.

Disclosure of Victim's Identity

It is really quite disgusting to note there is demand in a section of the media for disclosure of the recent Delhi crime-victim's identity. In a country with a population of over 1.2 billion (and growing), the government did very well to maintain secrecy in such a sensitive issue in order to protect the honour of the deceased as well as that of her family. Also, the government deserves appreciation for making her funeral ceremony a solemn affair, befitting the gravity of the manner of her death. Viewed against this background, criticism that the government did not agree for public display of the victim's body to enable the mourners to pay their homage is much more disgusting.

If the media are socially responsible, they should forthwith desist from using the phrase `Gang-rape victim' and replace it with `Delhi crime victim'.

just start carrying a weapon or a knife from now on....nothing is going to come off of this. I read a story about a woman in bangladesh who castrated a man when he attempted to rape her. Apparently she had a knife with her.

Yeah women have to be extra careful, because laws wont change in this country. Also given the skewed sex ratios, women are rare to begin with especially in the north. So this will happen even more. not only that given the terrible poverty these men live in, they really don't give a damn about consequences.

a knife, blade or a gun should be with you all the time. no other salvation.

Bopllywood parasites and TV media parasites have finally started to acknowledge the role of bollywood in shaping and TV media in shaping the MIND of Indian Youth. Both CNN-IBN and IBN7 yesterday have full debate on the issue.

My crude ways of advocating the same issues for last 5 years had fallen on deaf ears. But I am glad people are seeing the effects after this heinous crime against 23years old.

Hi Mam,
Just watched your debate on times now at YouTube, you were feisty, you nailed Abhishek Manusinghvi, . I was wondering how many people can do that? in India I.e. Question despotic leaders where failing to oblige such people can land a common man in big trouble. Thanks a ton for your social service. You inspire us to fight for justice, equality. More power to you.

Nothing to be happy about this year. Just read the interview of the rape victim's friend. So led down by the entire system and the media. Nobody gave the actual news, no one told the truth. Everyone is just busy making statements in public eye and getting some publicity on hand.
The duo were naked on the road for such a long period of time. The police didn't even feel the need to cover them up; they didn't even help them escort on to the police vehicle.

All lies in media. All fake stuff! Each one of us should be ashamed of being an Indian from now onwards. We really are living in a hopeless place, believe it or not!

Very well said but the percentage of people feeling ashamed is alarmingly low. The DNA of this country is compromised.

When I came to know where this braveheart girl used to live - I went in that locality feeling like losing someone in family. I salute this girl that she did well in studies and put up a brave fight despite all the odds on that night and where she used to live. There is not puckka road, her small house is a narrow lane, garbage is lying everywhere in the street, no sewer. While Dwarka - having all 5 star amenities just 2 miles from there. This colony has come up in last 15-20 years only and it is a living hell. Look at the list of guests who spent their precious time to heel the wounds of the family while turning a blind eye towards crime against woman, mango people and creating locality which will stay living hell for CENTURIES TO COME. All this happened and continued by Sheila Dixit and company.

The people who shed crocodile tears and were in news

Sonia Gabdhi
Sheila Dixit
Sardar Manmohan Singh
Renuka Chaudhry
Bahubal Mishra - MP from area

But they dont have time for special session of parliament or ask Justice verma to complete report quickly. The parasites are buying time and know that blood of majority of Indians boild only for a few days/weeks as the DNA of people from this country is DEFECTIVE - including intellectual class.

But Ms De will say that Rahul Gandhi can take this country to 21st century. She liked her speech very well 2 years back and said it was a masterstroke. I wonder if the Rahul baba is weeping quietly and lost his vocal chords. May be is a game changer and thinking something really great to fix the DNA...Idiots like me dont have the patience and judge people prematurely.

FOREWIORD - NIRBHAYA'S INDIA
(www.nirbhayasindia.com)

4.45am Singapore time. She died.
Yes she died. Really died. Finally.
And it was 2.15am here, but India cried.
The news, this one time was nightly.
For twenty six nights, not days thirteen,
She fought and still stayed composed
Psychiatrically. Her face that reposed
Faith in protestors remained unseen;
The face unseen, the woman nameless,
From some village, a bus traveller so less
Privileged than the ruling or moneyed,
Was enough to get India up and frenzied.
So my two-bit mind for all its confusion, is clear about
The fact that the rape was but a spark, to begin the rout.
