I had a one point agenda last night. I was determined to watch Bigg Boss and find out for myself what this rubbish was about. I was seriously concerned when a friend whose mind is worth respecting, told me she was hooked! I said, "I don't believe it..." Here was a card holding member of the Power Ladies Club, her Blackberry had become a body part, fused to her being. She checked every ping.... and moved a lot of global money around (all in a day's work) with a click. Why would she watch a dumb show featuring some toad-like men (all the women have been voted out)? Well.... guess what? Come hell or high water, she was hooked to the telly at 10pm every night. I was curious as hell, and surfed channels like mad till I found it. Eeeeeks!! There was a green faced monster on the small screen. It turned out to be Rahul Mahajan with a beauty mask! I wanted to tell him to save himself the trouble..... he doesn't need a mere mask, he requires a head transplant. And this moron is supposed to win one crore at the end of the show?? But that's before I saw the rest. Zulfie is a cutie. He should win - for being cute. The other two are plain ugh - don't know and don't care who they are. Five minutes into the show and I was ready to weep at the clumsy manipulation taking place so blatantly. All that hocus pocus about Rahul quitting because he refused to apologise to the Bigg Boss!! Those grown men (ghodas) weeping and wailing after his exist, yelling out, " I love you, Rahul!" Gawd!!! YUCKKKK!
So, why do people watch the show if it is this bad(I swear it is)? I think it is because they see a little of themselves in those inmates, and wonder how they would behave in an identical scenario.The production values are beyond shabby, and it is so obviously 'staged'. I guess suckers are born everyday. What's the bet that the creepy Mahajan will be back.... and go on to win??? Oh... I met his sensible sister Poonam (she is standing for elections from South Mumbai on a BJP ticket), who wants to come and meet me at home. She must cringe watching her brother on this grotesque show.Must ask her when she comes a-calling....

You watched big boss. You watched big boss... I mean, you really watched big boss... and you watched the whole show... o m g. (Actually, I have also indulged in self torture a couple of times )My beloved ace strategist Ekta Kapoor is eon times better than this dud of a programme. Rahul looks like a slug... not that it matters... but he seems asexual at times and at times Try-Sexual... remember he getting caught in the tub in a nanga-punga avastha... with his friends in same position. He was then alleged to have been a wife-beater..{par, i guess the wife beating thing was staged... and his marriage was a bid to camouflage his homosexual tendencies. (a sunil pant doesn't happen everywhere, you see)}…
There is this other guy Raja Chowdhary, who is the husband of an Ekta Kapoor star, the star divorced him as he was again a shaqqi and a wife beater.
And then there was this goondi moll, monica my darling… there is this winner of a loser show sudhanshu… there is this vampshish stree “sambhavana” and this woman is against rakhi sawant (whom we love)… payal rahatogi who has starred in magnum opuses(obviously pun intended) like Tauba Tauba et al.
The saving grace, of course was this plain jane chick called alina… a commoner… but sadly she was evicted. Zulfi, looks young in his otherwise beautiful cheddi ads. (remember the joke… Zulfi Rupa Ka pehenta hai, toh rupa kya pehenti hogi?) in BB he looks old … but yes, now he is the best of the lot… just that he looks good in least.

I guess a commoner sees it for the second part of your statement. I have friends and family telling what they would have done/react THAN saying I think Rahul is like me or Sambhavana just spoke my mind etc etc.
Like almost all reality shows this too is scripted, yet people are watching it like they still watch complete nonsensical 'Nach Baliye-4' and 'Indian Idol-4'.
@ Aham, You are right about Rahul camouflaging his sexuality as We all know what transpired when Rahul's secretary died of drug overdose. Don't we??

this is the first time i m reading a celebrity blog and i was really excited.I read "Big Boss". Please dont mind but i felt something about two comments,

about the second one,people watch reality show because of 2 things, talent and celebrities. the first is obvious and the second, people dont relate themself to the person on the TV, but they start watching them out of curiosity.like what these people r like, what do they do,what they talk,eat,behave etc. and ultimately they come to know that there is nothing special about them (except they r in the TV). I am a gr8 fan of urs since childhood. After watching all ur gr8 tv serials i thought u wud be a gr8 philoshoper, or atleast taking like that in public. but today i came to that u also speak like a normal person.
so i also started with curiosity and ended with reality.
i wont say anything about the firs point ,coz i think i have already shown enough rudeness to a person i always liked. sorry if u find me rude.

Even I saw it only few days back. In that episode, the camera stay put for an eternity focusing at an empty dark kitchen and just stay put. Some reality TV that!
I have to admit I was giggling as I read your blog entry. Just the idea that the show finally caught your eyeballs and as much as you would have liked to have NOT seen it... you did! So the Lowest Common Denominator theory that TV producers live by, finally did work.
It is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. I know how badly it is going to end, but I cannot tear my eyes away. I know how much carnage is going to happen, but I am both powerless to stop it and secretly I want to watch it in all its gory madness. I watch in some sort of fascinated horror. I watch thankful that I am on this side of the TV screen and not in the show. I watch believing that my intellect or reasoning would never allow me to go on a show like this, but loving every humiliation that the show cast goes through. It massages my ego that I think I could never be stupid like him...or him... or her... or that one... all those nasty, manipulative people on the show. I watch with an analytical air, trying to spot producer manipulation and the machinations of the cast themselves. I watch for the laughs it gives me. Most of the laughs I admit are mean spirited, but then it is reality TV. Mean is a part of our life I think.
Oh heck, why not be honest... like most people watching the show, it makes me feel superior and good about my own supposedly evolved self.
That it is entertainment to wind down to every evening when I retreat from the show that is my own life... is another matter.
And that I think is the beauty of this TV product and how it gets its eyeballs.

I've only seen it passing through the channels and have to say - the men are so FUGLY... and the women are even FUGLIER.. and talk about the way they behave on this show... its not even worth commenting.. are these seriously sick looking people trying to be actors???? God save bollywood... gone are the days of those sexy, sophisticated dames like Zeenat, Parveen and Dimple... now its Rakhi Sawant.. and whats her name.. TILL i saw rahul mahajan being interviewed on TV by Shilpa Shetty.
he was actually rather "normal" and came across as a bright kid!
he had a good sense of humour, and was answering her in good, shuddh hindi.
guess we were expecting him to be the pits, and seeing him being "normal" actually came as a big shock!
which just goes to show that TV is a very manipulative medium...
you may actually see things which do not exist!!

its such a utter nonsense..
Its an example for high class bad taste of north indians.
Calling someone a moron, after having seen him on the telly for 5mins is a little unfair!!
The program has got more than decent TV rating points. So there are a lot of people watching it and most of them are embarrassed to admit it. The reason for watching is spot on (esp. people with above average intelligence). Its sort of an ultra endurance race... its like being in a prison for 3 months, plus ensuring you look good most of the time, plus are entertaining, plus weekly emotional ups and downs about being nominated/voted out and more.
And yes it is staged and manipulated to a certain extent. (thankfully with the sole purpose of ensuring higher ratings)

i will not really waste time on snipping every line.. but big boss is not about mr cute! and the 'ughs' you din't care about were the top runners in the show.
