Links.. and more links

http://marysewolinski.blogspirit.com/
Guys, this is for those of you who read french, and may be aware of Maryse Wolinski's books. She was in Mumbai last month, and we met over tea at my favourite neighbourhood cafe - Moshe's. I was enchanted by her - so tiny, fragile, feminine. Like a delicate portrait from an earlier century. And yet, so totally 'today' in her sharp intellect and outlook. I half-read the post ( my french is kuchcha and at schoolgirl level), but was most flattered. My French agent sent me the link and he seemed awfully pleased by what Maryse had written. He, of course, has a vested interest, since one of my books will be published in France soon.... and every bit of publicity counts in that tough and hard-to-please market.

The Nikki Bedi interview crackled and sparkled. She hosts a daily show on the Asia network of the BBC, and has a huge following. Nikki is a good interviewer - she does her homework thoroughly, asks relevant questions and allows the interviewee to complete answers without irritating interruptions. I shall post the link as soon as the interview is aired (aired? broadcast? help!). I shall also post another link - oh God - are you o.d.ing already?? Just say so... in case you are. But remember.... some of you do ask for these links. Okay.... this one is related to one of the functions I'd gone to Delhi for a couple of weeks ago. Incredibly enough, I'd won the Asia Spa Diva award!! Don't ask. I am far from being a spa person. But, like Parineeta Sethi, the lady who owns and runs a bouquet of niche publications, told me disarmingly, I represent 'wellness' in every sense of the term! COOL.

That's enough bragging for one dy. I have just finished my ultra short coffee-and-biscotti break. As a reward for finishing a 1,500 word piece for a weekend paper. And am ready to say 'Bonjour' to Ursulla Gautier from La Nouvelle Observateur, whose interview is scheduled for later this afternoon. Till tomorrow... au revoir.

Asia Spa Diva award! Isn't that just delightful:) Good luck with the French... I've have the privilege of dealing with quite a few... ended up pleasing none but interesting crowd nevertheless. When will they stop pretending to be such a closed society. I still have to catch your show on NDTV.

There can be only one Shobhaa de, one Hema Malini, one Amitabh Bachchan. All of you are such tremendous successes. I often wonder how do your children take your successes? Hope one day, one of your children will outshine you and that will make your day, I suppose. It is not a race, I agree but something to look forward to. I feel Mukesh Ambani had done it.

Congrats on the Asia Spa Diwa Award. You deserve it although I am yet to find the real meaning of Diwa. In marathi it means lamp/light, so I always took the meaning of Diwa as someone who throws light on various things :) Just kidding. abhinandan !!

I always found french people as rude and unnecessarily cocky. It will be neat to see your books making that market.

I have not seen Nikki's interviews yet but now I will watch. You talked about interviewing skills and I remembered Terry Gross on NPR here in US. I always thought she is one of the best interviewer. She asks very short but insightful and meaningful questions and never inteferes in the answers. She in fact also has a book called " All I did is Ask". It is a skill in itself to interview others.

Shobha ji,
Can you write something on physical harms to those in TV media who have become goons of society??

I know it will be suicidal for you...but just thought I will try.

My opinion along with few is clear and I think there is a strong case for it.

Anyone who see these TV journalists in PUBLIC, who are involved in showing "nanga naach" and fueling the lust among masses to create more crimes against women should try to hit them hard and kick them until they start seeing stars in broad daylight.

TV MEDIA PEOPLE are worse than TERRORISTS.

Terrorists destroy few families at some interval of time. But these bastards on TV media with the help of BOLLYWOOD are destroying families every single day with their journalism driven by love for CHEAP money.

Watch out those who are every single day bombard the average person with "Swamywar of Rakhi Sawant", filmi times, Dhoni's crush on Deepika Padukone clippings. The time has come to BEAT THEM BLUE so that their families can't recognize them for few days.

You looked fabulous on NDTV and appreciated your response on swiss money. Your facebook picture does't do justice with you.

The facebook picture gives the impression something on the lines of

"Khandahar bataate hain ki Imaarat kabhi buland rahi hogi".

But after seeing you on TV it doesn't look there is any "khandahar" and in fact Imaarat is gaganchumbi and looks more prettier than ever before.

Bravo! J'ai beaucoup aime le link francaise! Gave me a chance to brush up my french & enjoy the read. She sure was complimentary perceptive also but then most of us women are! Needed the dictionary for a few words though. Please post the other link. We have no tv just don't miss it after 4 years so till we get our act together & get one the links are great. My nightly relaxation with my berry reading your blog does the trick just fine. Let's hope the french love your books as much as we do! If they do Viva la France! Bonsoir et a bientot j'espere.
