The whole nine yards.....

Guys, I have just come back from watching the most thrilling cricket match where 'my' team won! Why my team? Well, I am a Mumbaikar, the Mumbai Indians are like a home team, they were playing in Mumbai, and the owners invited us to cheer. Simple! Not that I know too much about cricket's countless intricacies, but what I enjoy is the atmosphere. Today it was beyond electrifying and I am just so glad I kept my writing on hold to enjoy a few hours of pure, undiluted adrenaline. At one point, while watching the energetic Mumbai Indians' cheerleaders doing their thing with the pom poms, I turned to Mukesh Ambani and suggested a change in their routine and costume. Assuming the Mumbai Indians make it to the finals ( and they have a bloody good chance here), perhaps those comely blondes sporting the blue and gold colours of the team on their butts in outfits that are oh-so-predictable ( hot pants, athletic bras, gold boots), could switch gear and wear Maharashtra's original nine yard kashta saree with sexy cholis?? I can't think of a more sensual statement. Since the kashta saree is worn like a dhoti, through the legs, it won't hamper their energetic moves either - my recommendation for the dance routine is the local 'lavni' which is as raunchy as you can get without getting arrested. Mukesh LOVED the idea and said he would 'implement it' immediately. I genuinely believe cheerleaders clad in nine yard sarees ( they can keep those gold boots) and grooving to 'Aikka Dajiba' would be far hotter than these all- American chicks swinging to dated Bollywood hits
( " aaallllll eeeez welllll."). Well .... if the idea does get 'implemented' .... you know where it came from. I'll extract my pound of flesh from Mukesh through the totally yummy Delhi-style chaats he and Nita serve at their dinners.
Talking of food, apres- match, we came home to our standard Bong khaabar, but there was also a treat in store. Our lovely neighbour Amishi Dhanuka did it again!! Don't stop, I want to tell her. What did she do?? Amishi had sent the most subtle and exquisite 'sandesh' from Kolkata which we nibbled at and savoured tiny bits of, because it is just so precious. It is not your garden variety sandesh - it is sandesh from an old mishti maker, Girish Chandra Dey, whose family has been producing sandesh for gourmets since 1844. And I thought to myself - how silkily the French promote Fauchon - the world famous fine epicerie. Here we have Girish Chandra Dey, producing orgasmic sandesh flavoured with saffron stamen, cardamom, rose water and more. We take all this for granted and pay a pittance for such a refined culinary creation. I had the mad impulse to let the whole world know about this sandesh and how special it is - sigh - it's all about marketing, isn't it?
My husband told me to shut up and gorge. We were celebrating the Mumbai Indians win. That was the official excuse..... now for the finals. And more sandesh!!!!!

It's all about higher quality And lesser amount And most important - The service. Marketing - nothing better than mouth publicity.

The "'nau wari' saree" with short choli knotted in the front, a big 'nath'('koyri' type) and a gajra on a big 'ambada' - would be the most decent yet very sexy or raunchy as you like to call it.
Gr8 idea, Ma-de-mji!

congratulations and jubilations, mz de! and whattay win it was! the mumbai INDIANS are unstoppable, nine victories and many more in the wings. and phirangis performing "lavni" will be welcomed by the thakrees since a village in maharashtra is already employing a russian hot babe as lead dancer to "revive dying marathi culture"! it was only after seeing the eyes of the male spectators that i finally realised that human eye muscles are capable of stretching 10 times their length. and they could also gyrate to "oh mungdaa!" if they have to satisfy their bollywood thirst. some nerd has beyonce dancing "lavni" style on youtube. will wonders never cease? and this passion for sandesh is unfathomable: i think i must sample the offering by shri girish chandra dey before vowing - nevair!!

I don't know why people want to change every thing in traditional colors...

when their own life styles are not so traditional.

Its like....(any foreign dish) -(its original stuffing)+ (Indian stuffing...most probably potato)

God help them.

Very good idea!! Why limit it to Finals??

If Mumbai cheerleaders change their costume and shows its tradition then others will follow soon.

Besides I don't have to request Lalit Modi to bring his wife as CHEERLEADER in one or two piece bikini/costume to do that routine.

Hope your suggestion is taken seriously.

Popcorn ideas and writings. Timepass and highly entertaining. You are proving to the Indian world that 60 and 70 year ladies need not sing bhajans and visit temples all the time. They can be mischievous, outrageous and bubbly than many younger people. Cheers.

Lovely idea Mz De, but sorry this one has already been tried by orissa cricket association in the IPL matches at barbati stadium at cuttack. The cheer leaders were the indigenous sambuluri dancer attired in typical sambalpuri Saree(which is worn unto the knees)performing to local numbers.Hope the Ambani bucks provide it the requisite glamour and glitz which the OCA couldn't do.
Rightly said 'Idea is a wave which can strike many at the same time'.

Good idea of navvari with aika dajiba , but it needs to implemented very well or else it may flop..but ifit clicks , it will be big hit...cause a indian chord will strike well with indians than the western chord

What about the glamorous Sunanda Pushkar who is grabbing media attention?
When Kashmir ki kali meets Kerala backwaters, it surely raises a storm.

lovely! your idea is...

IPL forgets that in the land of savita bhabhi, a pom pom girl.. shimmering in a sexy red saree will be so damn sexy.

******************************

but who is bothered about cricket now..
twashi tharoor and Twalit modi ki controversy is more sexier...

just that moody modi should be warned - dubai chechiii SUNANDA(ko aur ) PUSH (math) KAR..

else he will have to face her wrath... :)

A very good idea, 9 yards are also worn by Tambrahms in Tamilnadu so it would be nice even if Chennai's cheer leaders wore the same. Hope Mukesh takes you seriously and we have a visual treat for the final.

"My team"? Do you have equity? Is it 'sweat equity' or have you, by any chance, chosen to pose as a 'front' for some one else?

I hope you won't find those questions insulting "as a friend and as a woman".

:D

Pound of flesh and chaat? Did they add keema to the traditional recipe?

:P
