Sorry. The movie made zero sense to me. Poor Ash. I know it's all about loving her new family, and standing by her man etc etc. But that's all Ramu makes her do - stand. In her skinny jeans and suede boots. If it's Rebecca Mark of the Enron scandal who inspired Ramu, Ash is no Rebecca. And the Enron story was far more powerful than this amateurish mess, with men pulling faces, twitching noses, gritting teeth and trying hard to look menacing. The opening sequence was particularly awful. Even a B-Grade filmmaker would have known that. And junked it instantly. What is the matter with Ramu? Has he totally lost it? There were three very bored ladies sitting next to me. One took a nap. Another spoke non-stop to her mother-in-law over her mobile (she must have been truly desperate), while the third with her teenage son over popcorn. My own daughter begged me to leave, so she could go home and chat online! I was determined to sit through till the bitter end. And glad I did. The movie picked up a little, post-interval. Shankar (Abhishek B) Nagre's main relationship remained with his cell phone. Even the death of his lovely wife ( Tanishaa should stick to similar desi looks and quit showing her thighs in an unsuccessful attempt to look young, hot and zegsssy), did not get the guy to quit taking calls obsessively. That left Pa Bachchan to scowl and glower all by himself. This was baby stuff, compared to the real thing (Enron). Power suits and cold eyes do not a power woman make. Such an embarrassing script does not deserve the attention the film has received. I am certain 'Phoonk' will make up for this turkey. The promos look promising. And the crow acts really well!

Hello Ma`am,
People have different perpectives of the same thing. If we go with a lot of expectations even " life beautiful " would not be the movie it is. You are right in terms of Aish, the movie faltered, but the concept of emergence of Raj against Thakeray`s was done beautifully, may be I dont have your level of inteligence, but thats fine I think.
shobhaa... how could u be so rude.. ehehe
on a serious note... whil agree with all your points... i guess i would also like to point out that RGV did much better than Aag.
in any case.. this film as well as Sarkar is a copybook for cinematography, lighting and background score... i think RGV needs to be given the shabaashi for that...
also performances by the three main leads are worth watching...
overall the film dragged a bit... that's the problem with the story... but chess games are slow too!
You are right, but now a days you are thinking like a critic and not like a film buff....... We have greater expectations from you Ma`am.
Hmnn, I guess Sarkar Raj wasn't all that bad. It could have been much better with a more interesting narrative. Also, the introduction of more characters (some, unwanted) added more commas to an otherwise okay screenplay.
Didnt like Amitabh talking too much, in fact he was better quieter in Sarkar. And Abhishek was repetitive and boring at times. Particularly with the cellphone. Aishwarya didnt have much to do except work as a visual relief amongst a canvas of ugly looking men. Ditto Tanishaa. But still liked the lighting and the interesting camera work. Even the background score, although a repeat of Sarkar, was effective. Come on, RGV scores on these counts for sure.
guys, it's good to see u defend your point of view so effectively.
the music was more Omkara than Sarkar, though! lighting?? haven't we seen it in countless Hollywood movies ten, twenty years ago? the only worthwhile performance came from the crafty old man. No. Not Amitabh. But Prabhavalkar.
i m not taking any hollywood film example.. that way we would never reach anywhere near Godfather and the shawshank redemption...
Sarkar raj is fine as per indian standards... we need to applaud that... it's getting better and there should be good will for the pioneers...
dear shobaa,
i agree with you. and i appreciate the fact that you sat through the ordeal of "pa, bahu aur baby"... ramu, i guess he has lost it... after watching his "cholley", i haven't mustered the courage to watch sarkar raj. for a change, bahu rani, i gather from the promos, has not shown much skin. guess ramu from his past experiences of jiah, antara, nisha (ohh sorry "priyankaaah"), now would have come to this conclusion
"too much vagina, causes angina". lol.
smiles :-)
aham
Sarkar Raj was bad for sure, but hey you liked jannat right.. then this was a better attempt.
